3D ANIMATION VIDEO PRODUCTION
3D ANIMATION of transforming TV Back when I was working at the sportsbook, I didn't really have much time (or reasons) to get into 3d animation or video editing. Since not much of that was needed for the marketing promotions we created for the business. I did get to do a lot of 3d rendering, but all of it was mostly just static rendering, if any animated content was created it was done in flash, and maybe some cel rendering creating swf files from 3ds max through swift3d. It was o very rare occasions that I really got the opportunity to work with Adobe Premiere or Adobe Aftereffects to put together some rendered footage along with sound effects and a background soundtrack. This was one of those rare chances, but as was the case most of the time, the directive given to me was to do it as quickly as possible (half a day at most) and then move on to other things. I was requested an animation that could convey a sense of the old moving on to the new (the catchphrase was "from old-school to new-school"). I proposed the idea of a tv set, since the information for the banner (this was going to be part of a promotional banner on a website) would be "projected" on the screen of both versions of the TV's.
COMMERCIAL AD for an Extreme Fighting competition Again another animation project with a very limited window of time. In this case a commercial for the sportsbook I had as my main marketing priority. A lot of that time I actually spent trying to get some footage of the fights that where being sponsored by the sportsbook. The fights are of the nasty kind, where one guy tries to pin down the other under his legs and butt and then proceeds to pound his opponent's face back into his skull - I always feel the type of spectator who enjoys this savagery probably sports a mo hawk, has a hard plastic hat with beer cans on either side and has kids with a woman not entirely unrelated (blood-wise). Anyway, I totally digress, so back to the subject. I put the ad together on Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. The animated 3D logo was created in 3ds Max, rendered using Vray. The 2d part was made with transparent layers in After Effects. All done in one afternoon (if you don't count the time I had to spend actually finding the fight footage).
3D Animation of smoking cigar This 3D rendered animation of a smoking cigar was produced for a commercial ad to be used online on one of the sportsbooks I worked for. The feel that is given to this sportsbook is one of which it's customers are high class successful and experienced gamblers. So a good cigar is very important in this image, and it's actually part of it's corporate image. Here I did some additional work combining Photoshop and After Effects to achieve a more natural looking spoke, since the results I was getting with particle flow in 3ds max where not satisfactory to me. As always this was something I had to accomplish very quickly, so too much tweaking in particle flow and then waiting for every test render was not an option. The fastest solution was to create a smoke line in a Photoshop layer from scratch (and put over the particles I generated for the smoke) and the use the smudge tool in consecutive layers to achieve the animation, making sure the last frame was the same as the last to accomplish a smooth cycle to the smoke animation. Finally I did some more tweaking in After Effects to add some blur and adjust camera rotation and zooming.
3d animated intro for an Extreme Fighting ad The UENSE is one of the main divisions of the Costarican Institute of Electricity (and Telecomunications) ICE. UENSE is the division that deals precisely with everything related with Corporate Telecomunications nationwise. At the time we did this project for them the where starting to promote all their new and recently implemented corporate telecomunication services. So a very simple and direct user friendly presentation was created, making all the technical explanation less complex for the end users who would be corporate heads and executives (very rarely technicaly savvy). For this presentation I went for a similar isometric perspective view and cel render for all the 3d objects and characters, that even though still cartoony like the Redcom Multimedia Presentation, it still had a more corporate or exetutive feel to it. Here all the project was done by myself, put together in Director, sound made in various sound editing applications, and the 3d done all with 3ds max rendered with illustrate plugin.
3d animation of wall mounted cigar dispenser Anything that gets upgraded from a Powerpoint presentation status to a Interactive Multimedia Presentation will be in a win-win situation, along with the people involved with the project that is getting promoted by this presentation. UENSE turned to us (as with more projects that I didn't put up on this website) for such an upgrade of everything they where doing. So when they wanted to do an internal presentation, to other divisions of the ICE, or to their superiors, the POW-WOW of Interactive Media was their secret weapon. Here they're promoting all their acomplishments in technology platforms offered at a corporate level. It's important to mention we had some pretty crazy deadlines with these people, because being a public service company, they tended to leave everything until the last minute, but we always came through. For this interactive project I did everything, putting it all together in Director.

3D ANAGLYPH STEREOSCOPIC ANIMATION - view with your
3D anaglyphs are a real challenge, specially if you try to make an animated movie stereoscopic anaglyph. I made this in 3ds Max, using a dual camera rig I created based on one of www.louismarcoux.com great tutorials (visit his site, it's worth it!). The two animations I rendered for what would be the left and right eye I then put together in Adobe After Effects with a technique I arrived at through trial and error (if you know a better way, I would love to hear about it - like the combustion one Louis Marcoux has on his site). The technique is very simple, and you can view it in my tutotials section. If you have further questions on how I did this anaglyph 3d animation or anything else regarding anaglyphs or 3D contact me and I'll try to answer them the best I can.
