3D DESIGN MULTIMEDIA WEB & ILLUSTRATION

Who is Oscar Blanco?

Born in San José, Costa Rica, in March 2nd 1968, since my early years I had always been a quiet kid who would "waste his time" (According to my school teachers) doodling and sketching on my school books.
"You'll never get anywhere with drawing" they would say....

Well, I don't know if I got "somewhere" yet, but it's an interesting, ever evolving and most of all extremely satisfying to the soul learning process, that officialy started around 1986 when I finally initiated my major in Graphic Arts, continued through freelance opportunities, getting hired by various companies in a wide range of design specialties, from serigraphic (t-shirts mostly) flexographic (rotative printing) and news print companies to ad agencies, owning my own multimedia/web design company and other options and is still going strong. All of which has provided rich experiences, and allowed for a more global point of view of what I do, and can do, not only from the production designer's point of view, but also giving me a little business sense and of how to manage projects at a more corporate level. Thinking not only of aesthetics but also of Return of Investment.

It's a never ending process, and everyday I try to push further, ever enjoying all the possibilities the design field has to offer. I feed from personal and work experiences, constantly investigating how to reinvent myself and what I do. Sometimes it's hard, but that's when I know the results will be most gratifying.

What else can I say about myself?... hmmm.. let's see. I believe in human nature, in a positive approach to life and it's challenges. Friendship. Family. And understanding as much as I can about the past to get a better grasp on dealing with what the future brings to the table. I'm not what you could consider a religious person, more of a spiritual kind (I'm not referring to burning incense and killing something hehe).

I love sharing knowledge. It became clear to me a long time ago, that teaching is always the best way to learn. New fresh perspectives on what "you already know" can really add spice to your day to day grind and enrich the range of possibilities, feed your creativity and allow you to grow. Aside of course, from the fact that it's also good to the soul.

If you wish for a more "accurate and formal" description of my know-how and experience, in a C.V. format, please feel free to contact me and I'll comply ASAP.
